Weight of the World

· Food For Thought

If we aren't careful, the weight of the world will not only slow us down, but hold us back from becoming all that God has called us to be.

The mind acts as a ruler over us. Until we think God-thoughts, our actions will continue down the path of mediocrity.

Over and over, the Bible warns us to get our minds right and our thinking in check as if that were a goal we could actually obtain. When it comes to the Christian life, scripture speaks in if/thenbefore/after language.

Point blank and period, the Bible teaches that the Christian experience is a change in mindset, lifestyle, and attitude. We are commanded to take a proactive role in working through this process.

Romans 12:2 instructs us of this,

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

Those are proactive words. Led by faith-filled determination our understanding must be enlightened, our consciousness subdued, and our will brought under subjection, not in the way of the world but to the way of the Lord.

Spiritual enrichment—Bible study, prayer, participation in your local church, and Christian fellowship all have the capacity to renew your mind.

The weight of the world’s opinions and views rest firmly upon our shoulders. The absence of our commitment to change and our desire to grow gives way to the infiltration of worldly perceptions.

Change comes by way of a spiritually nourished mind. We must seek and succumb to God's perspective. That is the perfect and acceptable will of God.

Challenge:

  • Be transformed
  • Renew your mind
  • Lay aside every weight
  • Seek God's perspective
