Praise requires that we recognize who God is; acknowledge God for all He has done; place God in the position of honor; and verbally express your feelings of admiration for his blessings.
Isaiah 12:4-5 puts it this way, "And in that day you will say: “Praise the Lord, call upon His name; Declare His deeds among the peoples, Make mention that His name is exalted. Sing to the Lord, For He has done excellent things; This is known in all the earth."
Knowing this, here are a few things to consider:
Recognize God as
- Creator of the universe an all living things
- The Holy One
- Righteous King
- An Awesome Deliverer
Acknowledge God For All He Has Done
- He Sustains life
- He gives strength to stand and endure
- He gives pace in the midst of storms
- He inspired men to write the Bible
Place God in the Position of Honor
- The Father
- The Son (Savior of the World)
- The Holy Spirit (Mind of God)
Verbally Express Feelings of Admiration
- I praise You for Your greatness
- I give You honor for who You are
- I thank You for all that You have done for me
- I glorify Your Holy Name
- I am grateful for Your many blessings
- You are King of King and Lord of Lords
- You are my shelter and shield
- You are faithful and kind
- You are loving and gracious
- You are mercify and forgiving
Praise the Lord: Call upon His Name. Declare His Name among the peoples—this is what praise looks like.
