Windows are hard to clean.
We recently had new windows installed in our house—the kind that fold in. When it's time to clean, these windows are much easier to manage.
The window to the heart speaks to motive. And sometimes—like those old windows—some things are hard to get to.
Even when we can’t see or understand our true motive, God does.
Proverbs 24:12 asks these questions, “If you say, “Surely we did not know this,” Does not He who weighs the hearts consider it? He who keeps your soul, does He not know it? And will He not render to each man according to his deeds?”
Goggle defines a motive as, a reason for doing something, especially one that is hidden or not obvious. Eventually, slivers of our motives are seen in our actions. Other people may not see it at first, but God sees and He knows everything all the time.
Truth is, sometimes our motives are hidden even from our own view. If we’re not careful, our misunderstood bias and unintentional prejudice could be overlooked.
While all motives are not impure, some can be selfish or misguided.
God weighs our heart, He tests our motives, and He pays us according to our actions.
It’s time to clean the windows.
Be honest with yourself about yourself. Ask God to reveal the truth about impure motives. With His help you can acknowledge things that need to be cleaned up and be forgiven.
Admit It; Quit It; Forget It—Only these three things will allow for a clearer view through the window to your heart.
