“You is kind. You is smart. You is important.”
If you’ve seen the movie, you remember those famous words spoken by Aibeleen to Mae Mobley.
I'll remember those nine words forever. Simply put, those words of affirmation provide encouragement, support, and comfort.
In many cases our day-to-day is so busy we forget how important our words are and the impact they have on others.
The spoken word has power—power to give life and power to take life.
Proverbs 18:21 reminds us of this, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit.”
For such a small instrument the tongue packs a powerful punch. Our words really matter and so does our tone.
Speak life. Choose your words carefully and use them to build up rather than tear down. When talking to yourself and to others, be mindful to use words that empower.
Someone is in need of a kind word. Someone is waiting to be encouraged by you today.
Just in case that person is you, remember this:
You is kind.
You is smart.
You is important.
