First Things First…

I don’t know any independently wealthy folk. Most of the people I know have jobs and careers—they work everyday. In addition to working a job, they have families—husbands, wives, children, grandchildren, parents, brothers, and sisters. Many also serve God through activities in their church and community.

If we're honest, sometimes managing everything is a real challenge and we wonder how to handle it all.

Matthew 6:33 reminds us of this, "But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you."

In its context, this scripture references concerns about the basic necessities (food, clothing, and shelter). In my mind, it also provides insight on the importance of prioritizing our lives with structure and boundaries.

Without a doubt, we have to put God first. When we seek to do things God’s way first, He gives us insight and understanding needed to handle this thing we call "life".

And just in case you're saying, “I can handle my family and career, but I don’t have a ministry…” I beg the difference. Your family is always your first ministry.

First Things First....seek God's perspective and everything else will fall into place.
