Grace for the Race

February 28, 2023

One scripture that my mother often quoted to me when things got rough was, “the race isn’t given to the swift or the strong, but to the one who endures until the end" (Eccl 9:11).

This important scripture can be encouraging when you’re faced with obstacles, challenges, and the thought of defeat.

During my youth I was involved in various sports. Whether at practice or competing, many times I began with high spirit and enough energy to motivate those around me. Contrariwise, there were moments when I became fatigued because of the intensity of the practice or competition; and could only rely on the inspiration of this scripture and God’s grace to see me through.

No matter what we are facing, God will give us the grace to endure until the end. I am convinced and confident of this very thing, that "He who has begun a good work in you will continue to perfect and complete it until the day of Christ Jesus" (Phil 1:6). Keep your faith in the Lord our God and know that He will give you grace for the race!

TIPS to remember:

  1. No hurdle is too high for our God.
  2. No problem is too difficult for our God
  3. Be encouraged… hold your head up… hang on in there…
