Transcend

Mind Over Matter

January 14, 2021

Outer space is off limits to most of us. Not because going there hasn’t been accomplished or that we are incapable, but because a lack of desire or the simple fact that most of us will never achieve the necessary requirements to reach that level.

So, what holds us back from thinking outside of ourselves, beyond the limits of our mind, our city, state and country? Maybe it’s just the willingness to believe that we can do better and be better.

I once heard someone say, “You can’t stop the birds from flying over your head, but you can prevent them from building a nest in your hair.” That is a true statement.

We may not be able to change most circumstances or events that happen in the world, but we can determine how we respond to it—that process begins in the mind.

Romans 8:6 reminds us of this,

“For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.”

The mind is the place where we should soar beyond our personal existence.

When we're carnally minded, we only consider “me, myself, and I”, things that look good, and feel good—addressing the physical and sexual need.

But the spiritually minded transcend to another stratosphere—one that reaches for the impossible and achieves the unthinkable, experiencing a life filled with peace.

So, when it comes to your thought-life, take a proactive approach to managing the information that encompasses the space between your ears.

Meditate on the positive; consider God’s perspective and not your own; see the better side of others (not the worst); rehearse what you can do as opposed to what you can’t.

Allow your thought-life to transcend over and above the matters of your day-to-day experiences.

Think thoughts that take you above and beyond the here and now. They just might cause you to reach the moon.

Scriptural Affirmation:

Now unto Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we can ask or think, according to the power that works in us.
