What’s Love Got to do…Got to do with It?

Love’s got everything to do with everything… Everything we do; everything we say and everything we think about.

Tina Turner’s 1980’s hit may have cast doubt suggesting that “Love is a second hand emotion…” and questioning the need for a heart “when a heart can be broken…”

Tina’s words express erotic, lustful and sensual love which focuses more on bodily pleasures. While those things have their place, alone they will never measure up to and will always falls short of God’s intentions for real love. This kind of love lasts throughout eternity and can only be dispersed from the depths of our soul.

Love is a “GOD Thing”!

The Bible says that God is love. Without God, real LOVE does not exist. Without God, we do not possess the capacity to demonstrate the true essence of love’s nature. 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 tells the story of love.

Challenge: Consider Characteristics of Love:

Love is not what you feel…but a validation of selfless actions

In spite of what anyone says, love does not beat, lie, cheat or connive. It always seeks to encourage, support and elevate its recipients. Love is a giver and not a taker.

Love is not what you get….but an expression of a heart-filled commitment

Caring more for others than itself, love is willing to wait and put the other person first. It represents truth and looks to bring out the best in its beneficiaries.

Love should never be judged by emotional empathy. Don’t fool yourself….If there are folks who say they love you, but their actions aren't seen in any of the previous points you should point them to the door!
